Chieftain Roll Call features BHS volleyball

The latest episode of “Chieftain Roll Call” focuses on the Bellefontaine High School football team and girls volleyball team.

Initially, the Bellefontaine High School Key Club launched the podcast in January.

The newly-formed Chieftain Backers are in charge of the podcast this year.

The weekly show focuses on BHS Athletics and student organizations.

This week’s edition features Bellefontaine assistant football coach Rick Reed, junior center Jack Varner, and the Lady Chiefs volleyball program.

Head volleyball coach Shannon Hodge was joined by assistant coach Tara Phelps along with seniors Lily Palmer and Olivia Ullom.

Reed and Varner reflected on the 41-3 win vs. Benjamin Logan.

Both guests also previewed the Week 5 matchup with Indian Lake.

Coach Hodge discussed the improvement the Lady Chiefs have made since last spring.

Hodge also talked about her desire to return to the sidelines.

She was the BHS head coach from ’97 through ’10.

Hodge praised the senior class for their leadership.

There are seven seniors on this year’s team.

Palmer, who just surpassed 1,000 career assists, talked about the team’s growth.

Ollum discussed the many key contributors on this year’s team.

Both girls shared their plans after high school.

The Lady Chiefs are 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the CBC.

The team won 3 games last fall.
