Bellefontaine Elementary School 2nd-graders learned about local agriculture on Tuesday.

BES hosted Ag Day for approximately 180 students.

The theme was “Where does your cheeseburger come from?”

There were a variety of stations throughout the bus parking lot.

Benjamin Logan FFA students ran the stations and taught the 2nd-graders about livestock, farming, tractor safety, and more.

BES students got a chance to see crops along with several animals, including beef cattle, pigs, chickens, goats, and a horse.

Students even had the opportunity to churn their own butter.

Finally, each student was offered a burger prepared on-site by the Logan County Cattlemen’s Association.

Ag Day was coordinated by Bellefontaine 2nd-grade teacher Ann Anderson and Benjamin Logan FFA Advisor Lora James.

Two grants helped fund the outreach event.

Bellefontaine Elementary School was awarded a grant from the James Milroy Foundation.

Benjamin Logan received a grant from the Ohio FFA Foundation Agricultural & Rural Community Outreach Program.

Earlier this month, Bellefontaine Elementary School hosted Farm Day for kindergartners and 1st-graders.

Students enjoyed a presentation from Bellefontaine farmer Caleb Wilson that day.
