Bellefontaine Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week the last few days.

Students enjoyed a special theme each day, including:

Monday – Funny Feet Day – Students wore funny socks and shoes to school, then read The Foot Book and Fox in Socks.

Tuesday – Wear Red, White, or Blue – Students read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday – Students dressed wacky and mismatched, then read Wacky Wednesday.

Thursday – Wear your favorite hat – Students wore their favorite hat as they read The Cat in the Hat.

Friday – Wear green – Students wore green and read Green Eggs and Ham.

Read Across America Week is celebrated in conjunction with Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which is March 2nd.

BES Principal Pat Martz said, “Our kiddos really love Dr. Seuss because most of his books are silly books and they enjoy reading them. Of course, the students like all of the events. They got to dress wacky, eat green eggs and ham, and wear hats to school.”

Martz added, “Kindergartners and first-graders learn to read. Students in second grade and up read to learn.”
