Bellefontaine City Schools is proud to report great success from the recent bus driver job fair.

BCS worked with six other area schools to hire bus drivers.

The job fair was held last Saturday and Sunday at Bellefontaine Middle School.

Bellefontaine teamed up with Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Riverside, Ridgemont, West Liberty-Salem, and Urbana for the event.

Attendees were given the opportunity to drive one of the buses around the BMS parking lot.

BCS Transportation Supervisor Tammie Garman was thrilled to get eight solid leads at the job fair.

Bellefontaine Superintendent Brad Hall delivered this message to staff members Thursday afternoon. “You may know that a bus driver recruiting event was organized by Tammie Garman last weekend. The nation faces a significant bus driver shortage and Tammie took it upon herself to do something unique and offer people the opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive one.

“The event was a great success and we had many individuals show up to give it a try. I am very optimistic that we will have sufficient drivers to combine high school/middle school routes as well as our intermediate school/elementary school routes.

“If that happens, our new daily schedule will be:

BMS: 7:15 to 2:45 (stays the same)

BHS 7:20 to 2:50 from 7:45 to 3:15

BIS 8:30 to 3:30 from 8:45 to 3:45

BES 8:45 to 3:45 from 9:15 to 4:15

“Thank you to Tammie, Penny, Tracy, Joyce, Steve, Paula, and Jen for giving up their Saturday and Sunday for this important event!”
