Kindergartners on the playground

Bellefontaine Elementary School welcomed the Class of 2034 Thursday morning.

It was the first day for kindergartners.

The eight kindergarten teachers explained classroom rules and introduced the students to the playground.

There are 187 kindergartners this year.

The first week is used to acclimate the young learners.

Half of the class comes in each day through next Thursday.

Full classes will start on Friday, August 27th.

The kindergarten teachers are Lauren Burkhardt, Amy Bennett-Brinkman, Heather Wechta, Carol Fultz, Ami Horvath, Tracy Huffman, Megan Moeller, and Lisa Plank.

Burkhardt reflected on the first day. “Well it’s always kind of a reset for us kindergarten teachers, but their excitement level is so high. They’re excited to use all their new school supplies, excited to be in the new building, and excited to play on the playground.”

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment will be held next week.
