The ’22-’23 school year kicked off for BCS teachers on Tuesday.

Principals at Bellefontaine Elementary School, Bellefontaine Intermediate School, Bellefontaine Middle School, and Bellefontaine High School hosted staff meetings in each building.

Teachers also attended professional development training.

New BHS Principal Jason Brown delivered a passionate message to the high school staff.

Brown thanked them for their dedication and praised them for their diverse skills.

Three community leaders had an uplifting message for high school teachers.

Former Bellefontaine Board Member Joan Haushalter, Retired Bellefontaine Principal Mike Hassel, and Coverlink Insurance Owner Tom Simon each spoke.

All three speakers’ children graduated from Bellefontaine High School.

Haushalter stressed the strong community support for BCS teachers.

Hassel challenged the staff to continue teaching academic content, but also caring about each student’s well-being.

Simon said many manufacturers choose to locate here because of the exceptional youth that our schools help develop.

Brown talked about BCS’ legacy of excellence.

Public education started in Bellefontaine in 1865.

He then shared his three pillars for the staff: Academic Excellence, Chieftain Pride Culture, and Well-Being.

Teachers have additional staff meetings and professional development on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is a teacher work day.

The first day of classes for BCS students (grades 1-9) will be Tuesday, September 6th.
