Students arrive at Bellefontaine Elementary School

Bellefontaine City Schools is in full session in grades K-12.

Today was the first day for all kindergartners.

Initially, half of the Class of 2034 started arriving on August 19th.

The other half opened the school year the following day.

Bellefontaine Elementary School implements a staggered start each year for kindergartners.

The first week is used to acclimate the young learners.

There are 187 kindergartners this year.

Elementary School Principal Pat Martz reflected on the first two weeks.

She said, “It’s going great. The kiddos and parents are getting their routines down.

“We’ve always done a staggered start. We do this to help with busing and allow for kindergarten assessment.”

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment was held the last few days.

2,309 students attend BCS this year.
