Today was a special day for a 6th grade cancer survivor at Bellefontaine Middle School.

Thane Admire has been cancer-free for five years.

A surprise celebration was held in homeroom teacher Keith Pettit’s class Tuesday morning.

The room featured balloons and a banner to mark the milestone.

Initially, Admire was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 4.

He received a bone marrow transplant in first grade.

Thane has received treatment at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

He loves studying history at BMS. His other interests include video games and archery.

His parents are Sam and Ashley Admire of Bellefontaine.

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
