Freshman camp highlighted the first day of classes at Bellefontaine High School on Tuesday.

Freshmen were the only students in the building. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will open the school year on Wednesday.

Longtime teacher Stacy Millice orchestrated the annual camp.

High School Principal Dr. Pam Noeth led a morning pep rally in the auditorium.

She challenged each student to be an 11 (on a scale of 1 to 10).

197 freshmen learned the importance of Chieftain Pride.

Pride stands for preparedness, respect, integrity, determination, and engagement.

Assistant Principal Cliff Core gave examples to model this behavior.

Core also explained the no vaping policy, cell phone use, and dress code.

School Resource Officer Doug Walters discussed how to enter the building each morning.

Any student arriving after 7:40 a.m. must enter through the main office and sign in.

A scavenger hunt was held after the pep rally.

Freshmen then enjoyed lunch.

An abbreviated class schedule was held throughout the afternoon because of a two-hour fog delay.

In previous years, freshman camp was held a few days before the school year started.

769 students are enrolled at BHS this year.
