Bellefontaine High School Envirothon members celebrated Earth Week with many activities including a butterfly project with 2nd-grade classes at Bellefontaine Elementary School recently.

BHS students went to the classrooms with butterfly habitats and caterpillars. They read books with the 2nd-graders and discussed the lifecycle of the butterfly and current environmental concerns that face the population.

The younger students will be able to watch the caterpillars complete their journey to becoming butterflies.

Second-grade students released the butterflies into the pollinator garden that Envirothon members put in place last year.

The project was sponsored by Dairy Queen.

BHS students involved were Mia McDonald, David Moody, Connor Skidmore, Sarah Fulmer, Mason Stanley, Julia Easton, Maggie Howard, Caitlyn Neill, Mekenzie Flora, Avery Hankins, Ava Campbell, Savannah Sheeley, Kailyn Newman, and Hunter Kerns.

Envirothon is advised by Kristy Mount.
