The Bellefontaine High School TV production class teamed up with a local race car driver Wednesday to showcase the importance of safe driving.

The students videotaped Andy Loehr in the BHS parking lot.

Loehr, who’s a longtime Bellefontaine police officer, used his stock car to properly display safe driving habits.

He then recorded several public service announcements stressing safe driving.

BHS School Resource Officer Doug Walters said the video is part of the Teen Safe Driving Initiative led by the police department.

Walters touted the importance of safe driving, “We want you to know what to do in a traffic stop, what to do if you have a traffic crash, how important safety belts are, and how to drive in bad weather.”

The video will be played on the morning announcements at Bellefontaine High School and posted on the BPD Facebook page later this fall.
