Bellefontaine High School Physics 2 students recently constructed cardboard boats as their final project.

The students then took their boats to the Hilliker YMCA to test their work.

Nine boats competed, and there were some impressive results.

The best time for a single person paddling their boat down and back in the pool was 59 seconds. The boat was paddled by Sam Moreland with help in construction by Connor Skidmore and David Moody.

Logan Pearson came in second place with a time of 1:28.

Third place went to Laney Mitchell, assisted by Katie Pool with a time of 1:58.

Paddler Milah Hunt received 4th place in a boat constructed with assistance from Morgan Burden.

The boat constructed by Miriam Irick held the most weight with seven people aboard.

Students learned lessons in buoyancy, construction, design, and teamwork.

The Physics 2 teacher is Kristy Mount.
