Motivational speaker and Driven Foundation Co-Founder Roy Hall energized the Bellefontaine High School Auditorium Wednesday morning.

The former Ohio State football standout delivered some worthy life lessons to more than 700 high school students.

Hall had three messages: Be Thankful, Be a Bridge, and We OVER Me.

Hall overcame a difficult childhood to thrive as an adult.

He reflected on his father using heroin and physically abusing his mother.

Those challenges motivated Hall to make it to the NFL.

Hall was a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts.

Following his pro career, he started the Driven Foundation in 2008.

The organization seeks ways to serve people across Central Ohio.

Over the last 14 years, the Driven Foundation has provided over 1.2 million pounds of food to 8,800 families.

At the beginning of Hall’s speech, he reiterated that nothing is more important than today.

Hall said we should be thankful for each day we have in life. He added that every day is a gift and noted that 156,000 people die worldwide each day.

He shared a personal message regarding how life can be very fragile.

Roy shared the sudden death of former Ohio State linebacker Devan Bogard, who died in an apartment fire last October.

Firefighters found Bogard, 27, within two feet of the door.

Hall stressed how life and death was truly a matter of seconds in this tragedy.

Hall then challenged attendees to be a bridge for someone struggling in life.

He urged students to sit with a stranger at lunch, help someone through a crisis, and simply be there for another human in need.

Finally, Hall emphasized We OVER Me.

He illustrated the importance of putting others before yourself.

Finally, he took questions from students and promised to help any of them in need.

Hall provided his contact information and took pictures with several students.

The Bellefontaine Police Department partnered with the United Way of Logan County to host Hall.
