Bellefontaine High School Envirothon students recently attended the Teen EcoSummit Celebration held at the Columbus Zoo.

They participated in a poster presentation featuring their grant-supported project to incorporate recycling at the 2022 Columbus Marathon. The goal is to reduce refuse by 50 percent. BHS students are working closely with Columbus Marathon representatives.

BHS has provided volunteers at the marathon for many years. Students noticed the high amount of trash generated by the race with no system in place to remove the recyclable materials (before the items were hauled to the landfill).

Bellefontaine students presenting the project were Katie Pool, Gabe Foreman, Mia McDonald, Caitlyn Neill, Maggie Howard, David Moody, and Connor Skidmore.

Envirothon is advised by Kristy Mount with assistance from Cliff Core.
