This college baseball signing showcased how dreams can come true.

Bellefontaine senior outfielder Kevin Gomez signed his letter of intent with Edison State Community College earlier this spring.

He was joined by his family, teammates, and coaches during the signing ceremony in the BHS Distance Learning Center.

Gomez was born and raised in Venezuela.

He started attending BHS in ninth grade when his family moved here for employment opportunities.

Gomez chose the Chargers after receiving a full scholarship.

He’s been dreaming of playing college baseball for years.

Ultimately, his goal is to play professional baseball.

Gomez plans to study web design.

He also considered Owens Community College in Toledo.

His parents are Freddy and Maria Gomez.

Gomez reflected on his signing, “College baseball has been a dream since I was a kid. I want to thank my family and coaches for their support.”

Bellefontaine varsity baseball coach Russ Hogue added, “Kevin has been working hard throughout high school. He has great intangibles. He is a good person and hard worker. Finally, he can throw the ball a mile and play multiple positions.”
