Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month.

Name: Jordan Butler

Parents: Mark and Jill Butler

Address: Bellefontaine

School activities and awards: Volleyball, Marching Band, Symphonic Band and Choir, Les Fons, Musical, OMUN, NHS, Chieftain Leaders, Agape, Key Club, The Heart of a Chieftain Award for service hours, Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards, and Most Improved Player Award in Volleyball.

If I were principal for a day: I would gather all the students into the main gym for a pep rally prior to a big game against our rival school because I miss when we were able to do so my freshman year. Events like this bring everyone together to have a good time and bring tons of energy for an exciting night!

Favorite school memory: Marching the halls every Friday we had a home football game or playing games at Relay for Life while also getting to eat from the amazing food trucks.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My choir teacher Mr. Henry. He makes class a fun and exciting environment to be in while also maintaining a good and successful music program. He is a great teacher but an even better friend. He is someone who will always be in your corner cheering you on even when you may not see it. He has helped me grow and become more confident, not only on stage, but outside of the classroom. He prioritizes every single one of his students to make sure we are all taken care of. That’s what makes him such an amazing and influential person.

Lately I’ve been reading: Though I’m not a big reader, the author Colleen Hoover grasps my attention throughout every single one of her books. My personal favorite is Verity.

My advice to parents: Don’t put so much pressure on your kids surrounding their academics. As long as they are trying their best, that’s all that matters. Putting forth the effort for a good grade is all that should be asked of us.

My biggest regret: Falling into a habit of just going through the motions throughout my four years of high school. I wish I had set myself a goal to always be working towards something new that would help me grow and improve on whatever I may have been doing.

Next year: I plan on attending either the University of Cincinnati or Ohio University, though I’m not sure what I plan to study. My main goal is to pick a career that will help improve the lives of others whether that be in health care or social work.

Name: Gabriel Foreman

Parents: Less and Jerri Foreman

Address: Bellefontaine

School activities and awards: Les Fons, Musical, Symphonic Choir, GSA President, and Envirothon.

If I were principal for a day: I would shorten all classes for the day so we can have a big assembly and have performers come in. I would also have popcorn for the whole school!

Favorite school memory: Getting a “1” (Superior rating) at State Contest in Symphonic Choir.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My friends and family who have helped me through the highs and lows of high school. My teachers, especially Ms. Mount and Mr. Henry! Thank you for all you have done for me and for the school as a whole.

Lately I’ve been reading: May i Wear Your Crown by Christopher Tapp.

My advice to parents: Listen to your kids and hear their feelings because high school can be so difficult. They will need someone to be there for them.

My biggest regret: Not joining clubs earlier.

Next year: I will be attending Wright State University and majoring in psychology.
