The eighth episode of “Chieftain Roll Call” has been released.

The Bellefontaine High School Key Club launched the new podcast in January.

The weekly show focuses on BHS Athletics and student organizations.

The most recent show features Bellefontaine varsity softball coach Katie Buffkin and three players.

Buffkin was joined by senior pitcher Tayteum Vigansky, senior first baseman Charley Carpenter, and sophomore pitcher/first baseman Averie Vigansky.

Buffkin, who graduated from BHS in 2000, enters her 14th season as the head coach of the Lady Chiefs.

She said this year’s team has a chance to be special because of pitching and experience across the diamond.

Tayteum Vigansky signed with Division I Eastern Kentucky in November.

Several starters return on this year’s squad as well.

Bellefontaine will open the season on Monday, March 28th vs. visiting Riverside at Blue Jacket Park. Game time is 5 p.m.

Last season, the Lady Chiefs went 11-13 overall and 5-10 in the CBC.

Doug Walters coaches the JV softball team.

Finally, this week’s show featured in-depth thoughts on the Cleveland Browns trading for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The former Clemson star is expected to make the Browns a Super Bowl contender.

The show also discussed March Madness, including Ohio State’s second-round exit and possible upsets this weekend.

“Chieftain Roll Call” is hosted by Bill Tipple.

Teacher/coach Rick Reed and BHS student-athlete Jack Varner are regular contributors, too.

BHS Key Club members and students in Aaron Gregor’s TV Production class help produce and record the show.

“Chieftain Roll Call” is sponsored by Easton Water Solutions.

Easton Water will fund the Key Club Scholarship, which is presented each year to at least one BHS grad.
