Every Bellefontaine High School student has a new Chromebook.

The laptops were distributed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tech coach Meagan Young led a 30-minute training session on how to use and care for the devices.

Young showed students how to access the academic websites they’ll use this school year.

She is encouraging each student to try one new skill per day.

Young is excited to implement the technology.

She said, “The kids are going to be able to one-on-one, in real time, interact with this curriculum. They’re going to be able to create documents and share them. We’re creating college and career ready skills for students.”

BHS senior Connor Skidmore was thrilled to receive his Chromebook.

He said, “Google is going to become very useful to students and teachers will start integrating more technology in class.”

Skidmore expects students and staff to be acclimated in the next couple of weeks.

Bellefontaine City Schools has transitioned to a Google one-to-one classroom this school year, meaning each student in the middle school and high school has their own computer.

Elementary and intermediate school students (grades K-5) are assigned a Chromebook to keep at school.

Chromebooks will be distributed to middle school students Thursday and Friday.
