Bellefontaine High School seniors learned more about their career options at the 3E kickoff event in the BHS auditorium on Monday.

What’s your E is the question being asked to Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Riverside, and Ohio Hi-Point students this month.

The E stands for employed, enlisted, or enrolled.

The goal of the 3E initiative is for every student to have a plan before graduating.

During the school year students will have many opportunities to explore the different 3E options.

The five local schools have teamed up with the Logan County Collaborative for several events, including College Day, Manufacturing Day, Career Expo, Enlistment Week, and Career Speakers.

Monday’s event was led by Logan County Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Ben Vollrath and Karen Sorreles from the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center.

Vollrath noted that 60 percent of local high school grads will go to college after graduation.

He added that just 17 percent of Logan County residents have earned a bachelor’s degree.

Vollrath said, “Don’t go to college because you think you have to; go because you want to.”

Sorreles said, “We value each E selection and encourage students to stay in Logan County.”

Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler briefly spoke to students about their career options.

Bellefontaine High School will host a 3E Signing Ceremony in the spring.
