The third episode of “Chieftain Coaches Corner” featured three BHS football coaches and a player this week.

The podcast offers in-depth talk from coaches and other guests, too.

Host Don Hensley was joined by Bellefontaine head football coach Jason Brown, defensive coordinator Jeremiah Vigansky, linebackers coach Aaron Peitsmeyer, and senior standout Sullivan Ashcraft.

Coach Brown talked about the first month of the season, including last week’s dominant win vs. Benjamin Logan at AcuSport Stadium.

The Chiefs handled the Raiders 41-3.

Brown praised his team for their continuous improvement this season.

He talked about the career night for junior tailback Riley Neer and the defense’s growth since Week 1.

Neer rushed for a career-high 4 touchdowns last week.

The BHS defense forced 4 turnovers.

Vigansky and Peitsmeyer detailed how they’ve worked in unison to help the Chieftain defense improve since fall camp began on August 1st.

Both defensive assistants touted the versatility of the BHS defense.

This has been highlighted by seniors Alex Caudill and Sullivan Ashcraft switching positions.

Caudill stepped in for Ashcraft at middle linebacker after Ashcraft missed the Licking Heights game.

Ashcraft is now playing in Caudill’s former defensive end spot.

Finally, Ashcraft talked about playing through a significant injury.

He suffered a torn ACL at a summer football camp, then tweaked his knee vs. Coldwater.

After missing the Licking Heights game, Ashcraft recorded an interception vs. Benjamin Logan last Friday.
