Members of the Bellefontaine City Schools Orchestra will play with a famous composer and musician Tuesday night.

High school and middle school students will take the stage with Mark Wood, who’s been electrifying the orchestra industry for four decades.

Wood is a recording artist, performer, producer, inventor, Emmy Award-winning composer, and Juilliard trained music advocate.

He rose to fame as string master and original member of the internationally acclaimed Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Wood’s true passion is music education. His program Electrify Your Symphony is an intensive rock and roll workshop for music education departments.

He visits nearly 60 schools per year nationwide.

Wood met with BCS students via Zoom last month.

He rehearsed (in person) with middle school students Monday morning and high school students Monday afternoon.

Wood will lead additional workshops with students tomorrow.

Orchestra students and Wood will then play in the BHS Auditorium Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The show is sold out.

The BCS Orchestra is led by longtime teacher Laura Mitchell.

Wood played with BCS students four years ago.

Wood’s initial concert with Bellefontaine students was in 2001.
