Bellefontaine High School administrators are excited for the upcoming school year.

The following is a welcome letter to BHS students and parents from principal Jason Brown, associate principal Cliff Core, and athletic director Matt Comstock.

On behalf of the Bellefontaine High School Staff, we would like to welcome our students and families to Bellefontaine High School for the 2022-2023 school year! BHS is committed to providing a school experience that encourages all students to become productive citizens through pursuit of academic excellence, community engagement, and personal growth. BHS provides an exceptional academic program balanced with quality systems of student support and extracurricular opportunities. We are sending this letter to provide all students with information to start the year.

First, our message for all students for 2022-2023 includes the following reminders:

  • Seek GREATNESS every day. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there - try out for a sport, an academic team, or another extracurricular program. All students should consider joining at least one school club. Being involved will help shape a positive experience for you here at BHS.
  • Stay focused on learning, stay focused on learning, stay focused on learning.
  • Be resilient. If you experience a setback, acknowledge it, but move forward knowing that every day is a new day and a new opportunity.
  • If you need help, reach out to your family members, teachers, counselors, coaches, friends, or the principals. You are not alone, the CHIEFTAIN Family sticks together!
  • Take care of yourself every day by making healthy choices. Remember: CHOOSE to do your best and BE your best every day! Take care of your mental and physical well-being.
  • Remember to be kind to yourself, to provide service to others, and to treat others by The Golden Rule.

Second, the calendar is different this year, with the first day of school beginning Tuesday, September 6th (for freshmen only), while grades 10-12 will start the following day on Wednesday, September 7th.

Third, we have a new bell schedule. Our school day is from 7:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. First period begins at 7:20 a.m. Please review the included time schedule. All tardies will sign in on the cafeteria side, not the Main Office as previous years. Officer Walters will be there to assist you for tardies until 8:20 a.m. each day.

Fourth, please complete your Final Forms by September 1st, 2022. You can log on to the BCS website and go into Final Forms to update your site. If you have issues doing so, please reach out to the high school prior to the Kick-Off. We will also have a Final Forms station set up at the Kick-Off Open House.

We will have a School Kick-Off OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, September 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to complete vital tasks. The purpose of this Kick-Off is to pick up schedules, pay fees, add money to student lunch accounts, get important upcoming school functions, and complete any paperwork necessary for start-of-school items BEFORE the school year begins. We also encourage you to take the opportunity to meet your teachers and see the building. Once again, you must complete Final Forms PRIOR TO the Kick-Off in order to pick up your schedules or complete Kick-Off activities.

Our staff is looking forward to having a fantastic school year with our students! If you have any questions, please contact our office at (937) 593-0545, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. BHS appreciates student and family involvement, and we want to serve our students and our community every day! We wish everyone a great 2022-2023 school year! Go Chiefs!

With Chieftain Pride,

Mr. Brown
Mr. Core
Mr. Comstock
