The deadline has been extended for a unique scholarship.

Bellefontaine High School seniors are encouraged to apply for the first-ever Haushalter Family Foundation Skilled Trades Scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to advance into higher education at an accredited educational trade or technical school in a job/trade/skill training program that takes 2 to 24 months.

The deadline to apply is April 7th.

With Bellefontaine City Schools’ continuing emphasis on What’s Your E, this scholarship could be ideal for a student who is choosing Employment but could benefit from some training or certification to maximize their skills.

Skilled trades covers a wide variety of jobs generally categorized into three main areas:

Industrial and manufacturing skilled trades: These include jobs like welders, mechanics, technicians, machinists, tool and die makers, programmers, robotics handlers, and wind turbine technicians.

Construction skilled trades: Jobs in these sectors involve trades commonly seen in the construction sector, such as carpenters, construction equipment operators, bricklayers, roofers, insulators, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and landscapers.

Service skilled trades: These trades form a part of the service sector. These include certain levels of nursing care, orderlies, aides, therapists, dental hygienists, cosmetologists, and service technicians.

Interested seniors should contact Becky O’Rielley in the BHS Guidance Department for an application or go to http://hs.bellefontaine.k12.oh.us/guidance/scholarships/local_scholarships_for_seniors/class_of_2022_local_scholarships

The scholarship is worth up to $1,000.
