Coaches Corner reflects on record-breaking night

The fifth episode of “Chieftain Coaches Corner” featured three BHS football coaches and two players this week.

The podcast offers in-depth talk from coaches and other guests, too.

Host Don Hensley was joined by Bellefontaine head football coach Jason Brown, assistant coaches Skylar Mifsud and Jeremy Clifton, and juniors Riley Neer and CJ Wilson.

Coach Brown talked about last Friday’s huge win at rival Springfield Shawnee.

The Chiefs outscored the Braves 53-32.

Bellefontaine sophomore quarterback Tavien St. Clair had a career night. He was 25-of-29 passing for 412 yards and 7 touchdowns.

St. Clair set school records for passing yards and touchdown passes in a single game.

BHS jumped out to a 33-14 halftime lead and never looked back.

St. Clair passed for 245 yards in the second quarter.

Several teammates delivered big games, too.

Neer had 9 catches for 149 yards and 3 TDs. He added a 45-yard touchdown run.

Wilson recorded 8 catches for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Running back Chris Fogan rushed for 135 yards on 22 carries.

Fogan also made a sensational one-handed touchdown catch.

Brown praised his team for their outstanding performance, then previewed Senior Night vs. Jonathan Alder.

The Pioneers feature Cameron Jewell, who leads the CBC with 1,063 yards rushing.

Last week, Jewell rushed for 373 yards and 6 touchdowns vs. Kenton Ridge.

Mifsud and Clifton detailed their respective roles and position groups.

Neer and Wilson talked about the Chiefs’ growth this fall.

The Chiefs (6-1, 2-0) will host Jonathan Alder (5-2, 1-1) Friday at 7 p.m. at AcuSport Stadium.
