Bellefontaine varsity boys basketball coach Henry Stolly along with players Gannon Purcell, Carter Snapp, and Jack Hutchins addressed the Bellefontaine Rotary Club Monday afternoon.

Purcell is the only senior on this year’s team.

Coach Stolly detailed the “Community of Support” that is evident through BHS academics, athletics, and activities as a community “Point of Pride.”

An overview of the basketball program was shared including the current roster of players and cheerleaders.

The student-athlete approach of the program focuses on the foundations of education, discipline, teamwork, commitment, and citizenship.

Stolly used the analogy of “The Game of Life” being similar to athletics through a variety of valuable teaching experiences which include role modeling, character building, and life skills.

Core values such as humility, passion, unity, servanthood, and thankfulness are defining characteristics that are an integral part of the basketball program.

Coach Stolly and the players explained how the youth developmental basketball programs offer something for all students from kindergarten through middle school.

The programs include:
Summer youth camp & skill workout activities
Instructional clinics for players and coaches
Little Dribblers, in-house basketball program, skill development, and travel teams

The boys basketball calendar is a year-round effort:
Fall - Strength & condition, skill workouts, open play, and coaches meetings/clinics
Winter - Preseason and season, scouting, college recruitment, tournament, and awards
Spring - Player evaluations, AAU, skill work, open gyms, and summer organization
Summer - Youth camp, summer leagues, team camps, skill workouts, and weights
