You’re encouraged to visit the Veterans Day Field of Honor at Blue Jacket Park this weekend.
Bellefontaine High School students and staff placed more than 370 flags honoring local veterans Thursday afternoon.
Each flag showcases the name of a veteran or active service member and their branch in the military.
The names were submitted by students, staff, and family members this fall.
The project was a collaborative effort.
The Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District put together the grid for the flags, which are on the high school soccer practice field.
The joint recreation district is also providing lighting over the flags each night.
Bellefontaine Elementary School printed the names of each veteran or active service member.
Flags were donated by the PTO, Logan County Veterans Services, and Bellefontaine Rotary Club.
The National Honor Society, Chieftain Pride Lab, Chieftain Leaders, and Interact Club at Bellefontaine High School helped with the project.
The flags will be on display until Tuesday afternoon (November 15th).
The first field of honor was at Blue Jacket Park in 2020.
BHS Assistant Principal Cliff Core said, “I cannot thank veterans enough. To me, this is just one small way of giving back.”
