Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month.

Name: Kadence Jones

Parents: Kris and Stacy Jones

Address: Bellefontaine

School activities and awards: Symphonic Choir, Les Fons (Show Choir), and Musical. I've received the Academic Excellence Award, been on honor roll throughout my high school career, and have maintained an average GPA of 4.0, all while taking AP, Honors, and CCP classes.

If I were principal for a day: I would have a free day for the students! There would be activities set up in the common areas, and the teachers would be able to have a free day, too, so they could grade, relax, etc. all while the students are able to hang out with their friends!

Favorite school memory: Being able to perform on stage with my friends. This includes all my musical performances, Les Fons performances, and choir concerts and contests. These allow me to share and enjoy my love of music while having made priceless memories.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents and sister have been there for me and have supported me every step of the way, especially showing up to all my performances. My teachers have pushed me to exceed to do anything I thought I could not, both academically and musically. By having amazing teachers throughout the district, it has helped me to succeed multiple ways in high school. Lastly, my friends have helped me enjoy each and every moment at Bellefontaine High School. I’m so thankful for everything everyone has done to support me and my journey here.

Lately I’ve been reading: Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach for my anatomy and physiology class.

My advice to parents: Encourage your children to do their best and to get involved while they are at BCS. Support and challenge them to always be the best version of themselves! I’ve appreciated everything my parents have done for me more than words can express.

My biggest regret: Not becoming more open until my senior year. I’ve not been able to speak in front of others without getting nervous until this year, so I wish I came out of my shell earlier in my high school career. By finding my voice earlier it would have pushed me even further.

Next year: I will be attending OSU Lima and majoring in psychology and minoring in music education.

Name: Caleb Torsell

Parents: Joe and Andrea Torsell

Address: Bellefontaine

School activities and awards: I was a member of the Bellefontaine varsity boys soccer team all four years. I also was a member of the Pride of the Tribe and marched for three years. I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in the CBC Cup and Volleybuff. I’m a member of the National Honor Society and was chosen to represent the senior class at the United Way Youth Allocations and get involved with the community. I also had the pleasure of stepping into a leadership role for the Bellefontaine Fellowship of Christian Anybodies Club, where I developed my faith with fellow Christians while also developing my education.

If I were principal for a day: I would have a schoolwide dodgeball tournament.

Favorite school memory: Wandering into classrooms and chatting everyone up.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents have been great inspirations to me and, of course, Jesus. He is the reason all of this is possible!

Lately I’ve been reading: Not a lot. I read how many calories food has sometimes; that's about it though.

My advice to parents: Encourage your kids to get involved and let them have fun and stay out late because high school goes by quickly. I may not remember all the school parts, but the memories I made will last forever.

My biggest regret: Not strengthening my ankles, but other than that no regrets. It’s all a part of the journey.

Next year: I will be attending Clark State College where I will be continuing my education on the path to receiving my Registered Nursing license (RN) and eventually getting my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and becoming a nurse at a hospital or a flight nurse for MedFlight.
