Bellefontaine football standout Ethan Yoder recently signed his letter of intent with Division II Ashland University.

The record-setting wide receiver chose AU after visiting the campus.

He was impressed with the academics along with the coaches and athletic facilities.

Yoder also considered Tiffin University.

He had a spectacular final season for the Chiefs.

Yoder had 59 catches for 818 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He set the school record for receiving yards in a season.

Yoder was selected Third Team All-Ohio, Academic All-Ohio, First Team CBC, and First Team All-Region.

He also shined on defense at safety and was an outstanding kick and punt returner.

BHS went 7-5 last fall and advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the fourth time in program history.

Yoder has starred in high school track as a pole vaulter, long jumper, and sprinter.

He delivered a long jump of over 21 feet this spring.

Yoder has maintained a 3.7 grade point average at BHS.

He plans on studying secondary education at Ashland.

His goals are to teach high school social studies and coach football and track.

Yoder reflected on his signing, “I really fell in love with Ashland when I visited the campus. The coaches and facilities were amazing. My goal is to make the travel squad as a freshman at AU.”

Bellefontaine football coach Jason Brown added, “Ethan was not an instant star here. He is a self-made man. His work ethic and desire led to great success. He catches everything and he’s an excellent blocker.”
