
Bellefontaine Intermediate School held its annual spelling bee on Wednesday.
34 fifth-graders competed in the bee, which was livestreamed by WBCS this year.
In the 10th round, Blakely Vollrath correctly spelled “contorted” to become the champion.
Desmond Clark was runner-up.
Both students have qualified for the Logan County Spelling Bee at Riverside on January 20th at 6 p.m.
Vollrath will also take an online spelling and vocabulary test in January to advance toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Blakely is the daughter of Ben & Jacey Vollrath.
Clark is the son of Doug & Kirsten Clark.
Donna Brunner was the moderator at BIS.
Angie Horvath and Katie Davis were the judges.
Bellefontaine Middle School will host their spelling bee on Tuesday, November 30th.
