Girls wrestling will take center stage at Bellefontaine High School this weekend.

BHS will host the Iron Maiden wrestling tournament the next two days.

The tournament was cancelled last winter because of COVID.

This year’s high school tournament will feature 40 teams and nearly 140 female wrestlers.

It starts Saturday morning at nine o’clock. The finals are expected to start around 4:30 p.m.

Four Lady Chiefs will compete, including longtime standouts Makayla Young and Chelsea Horsley.

Horsley won the state title in 2020 and finished runner-up last year.

Young placed third at the last two state tournaments.

Powerful teams from Marysville, Miami East, and Delaware Hayes are included in this year’s Iron Maiden.

The middle school tournament, called the Jr. Iron Maiden, starts Friday at 4 p.m.

18 teams will compete in the Jr. High tournament.

Finally, there is no admission charge for female students from Bellefontaine this weekend.
