The Bellefontaine Education Association presented the Friends of Education Award to Joan Haushalter.
Haushalter was given a $50 check, which was made out to a charity of her choice.
The money was used to start a grant through the Logan County Education Foundation.
The grant is titled #Ripple Effect.
Haushalter said that education and kindness have a ripple effect that can impact the world one person at a time.
Haushalter served on the Bellefontaine Board of Education for 12 years (2008-2019). She also served as the PTO president for several years.
Finally, the United Way of Logan County recognized Bellefontaine City Schools for being one of the top ten contributors during last year’s campaign.
BCS staff members donated over $30,000 last fall.
Staff members kicked off the campaign Thursday, which will wrap up September 9th.
Following convocation, staff members spent much of the day in professional development training.
All four buildings hosted open house events in the evening.
Bellefontaine will start the school year (grades 1-9) on Tuesday, September 6th.
