The 37th annual Band Spectacular was a huge success at Bellefontaine High School last Saturday night.

Bellefontaine and 9 other area bands entertained a large crowd at AcuSport Stadium.

The Band Spectacular started as a band competition, then evolved into a fun performance opportunity for area bands.

A variety of diverse music and styles were featured in each band's performance.

Bands from Riverside, Jackson Center, North Union, Waynesfield-Goshen, Triad, West Liberty-Salem, Urbana, Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan, and Bellefontaine participated.

The theme for the BHS band show this fall is Recalculating.

The featured songs are "Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts, "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson, and "Home" (from The Wiz) by Charlie Smalls.

BHS Interim Band Director Heather Rivon said, "The Band Spectacular is one of my favorite traditions of The Pride of The Tribe. We’re so grateful to the 9 other local bands for sharing their talents with us.

"I'd like to thank the band directors and staff, students, bus drivers, trailer haulers, chaperones, band guides, concession workers, custodians, music boosters, and all who helped make the Band Spectacular a success. It takes a village.

"This weekend was the first time Bellefontaine performed their full season show for a crowd. While we have a lot to refine and perfect, the band staff is really proud of their energetic performance on Saturday night. We've put in tons of hours and effort to get to where we are now, but we're not done!"

Bellefontaine will compete in an Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District band contest at Marion Local on Saturday, September 23rd.
