Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month.
Name: Lincoln Howell
Parents: James and Donna Howell
Address: Bellefontaine
School activities and awards: National Honor Society, Symphonic Choir, Band, and Track and Field.
If I were principal for a day: I would allow students to eat lunch in the courtyard.
Favorite school memory: Playing cards with my friends during study hall.
People who have been an inspiration to me: James and Donna Howell, my doting parents.
Lately I’ve been reading: The Bible and Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind by Shunryu Suzuki.
My advice to parents: Hold off allowing your child to have a smart device as long as you can without stunting them socially.
My biggest regret: Only so recently having considered continuing education classes. The CCP program likely has many beneficial courses that I’ve missed.
Next year: I will be attending college in state to study pre-med.
Name: Makayla Young
Parents: Amy Young and Ryan Young
Address: Bellefontaine
School activities and awards: Varsity Wrestling, 2-Time Athlete of the Month, 2-Time 3rd-place finish at the Girls State Wrestling Tournament, National Honor Society, French Club President, French Honor Society President, and ranked 5th out of 191 students with a 4.3 GPA.
If I were principal for a day: I would end the school day early after a celebration that consisted of donuts for everyone.
Favorite school memory: The Hunger Games assembly - the chaos and shattered glass were very entertaining.
People who have been an inspiration to me: My wrestling coaches - Brady Hiatt, Johnny Maurice, Kyle Spence, and Aaron LaBatt, etc.
Lately I’ve been reading: Whatever my teachers give me.
My advice to parents: Support your kids through anything and don’t be too hard on them.
My biggest regret: Becoming obsessively stressed over school and missing out on time with my friends.
Next year: I will be attending a college (that I will be committing to soon) for accounting and wrestling.
