The following is a message from Bellefontaine Superintendent Brad Hall regarding an increase in local COVID cases, especially among school-aged patients.
Logan County is nearly leading Ohio with between 331 and 351 positive cases of the Delta variant and we are seeing a sharp increase in our schools. That includes 40 pediatric cases between August 16th and today (August 26th) in Logan County. Today, I learned the Logan County Health Department is giving indications that they may begin closing classrooms and/or school buildings if we do not slow the spread. Closing classrooms or buildings would mean a return to virtual learning from home.
The goal of the district is to stay open and educate our students in a face-to-face classroom setting. Please strongly consider having your children wear masks to school so we can meet those goals for every student. Once we turn the corner, I will be more than happy to let you know when we can be less concerned about masks. Please strongly consider sending students to school wearing masks.
