COVID Notifications - 10/20/20

Public Annoucement

Good evening. This is Brad Hall, Superintendent of Bellefontaine City Schools, with an announcement regarding the notifications you have received from me in recent days regarding COVID information. Please be patient, as this is a long message and tells you how notifications will be made in the future.

The requirements in the Order of notification are to:

A. Provide written notice to all parents of students who share a classroom space or participated in an activity when a student could have been infectious, and,

B. Provide written notice to all parents of students in the same school building.

Please note that a SchoolMessenger all-call is not a requirement. That communication was intended to inform families, not to cause alarm or bother with daily messages. My goal has been to be overly transparent with you on the COVID information in the district, but it is apparent to me that these notices could be a daily occurrence. Please rest assured if your child is exposed to a COVID-positive student or staff member, you will be contacted as part of a separate notification process through the Logan County Health Department in cooperation with the district.

The purpose of this evening’s call is to let you know that we are committed to doing our best to provide the safest learning and working environment, under all conditions, for all students and staff. This is, however, the final time I will be contacting you via an all-call to inform you of any specific COVID-19 cases in our district. From this point forward updates will be provided on building webpages and the district Facebook page.

For more information on what a probable COVID-19 case means, please see the notice posted on the building or Facebook site.

Below is a link to the CDC website and it defines “probable”.  Scroll slightly to the “Understanding the Data” section.

Thank you.
