Research Engineer at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio

Tell us a little bit about your current occupation:  What draws you to it?  What are the rewards, etc.?

At TRC, I am currently contracted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct testing on Crash Avoidance safety technologies in vehicles. With this, I get to do a little of everything from creating and performing tests to analyzing data to summarizing and presenting that data. I love the problem solving involved in my day to day work. We are constantly having to come up with new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of testing new technologies.

What activities were you involved with as a student at Bellefontaine High School?

I was pretty involved at BHS. I played varsity softball for four years, JV basketball for two years, and varsity swim team for one year. I was also President of National Honors Society and a member of Mock Trial and Key Club.

What are some of your favorite memories of growing up in Bellefontaine?

Many of my favorite memories come from the sports I played while growing up. Whether it was at practice or games or off the fields, I had a blast being a part of those teams.

What about Bellefontaine City Schools helped prepare you for your post HS endeavors?

Bellefontaine City Schools did an excellent job in preparing me for college with the Honors, Duel Enrollment, and AP class options. Taking these classes allowed me to opt out of several classes my freshman year of college, but also put me ahead of my peers with credit hours, so I had the opportunity to schedule and choose housing earlier. These classes also helped better prepare me for the workload and style of college classes making my freshmen year less stressful.
