College(s)/Degree’s Held: Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Psychology from The Ohio State University (graduated in May 2015)

What is your current occupation?

I am currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate at Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tell us a little bit about your current occupation:  What draws you to it?  What are the rewards, etc.?

I was interested in attending law school because I thought it would be a practical way to use my psychology/neuroscience background to help others. I have been fascinated by what I have learned at school and been grateful for the amazing experiences I have been privileged to participate in including Vanderbilt’s 1L Mock Trial Competition, a spring break service trip to volunteer at the Orlean’s Public Defender’s Office, and working at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. The rewards of a career in law are different depending what path you choose, but I am hoping that I will end up in a career that is intellectually challenging and adds value to society.

What activities were you involved with as a student at Bellefontaine High School?

Some activities I was involved with at BHS included cross-county, track, marching band, jazz band, concert/symphonic band, choir, mock trial, and quiz bowl.

Additionally, I worked at the WPKO/WBLL radio station while I was in high school.

What are some of your favorite memories of growing up in Bellefontaine?

Some of my favorite memories of growing up in Bellefontaine include participating in the cross-country and track teams in high school. Both teams had such great camaraderie and I loved the friendships I built on the field – nothing bonds people more than running together! Another great memory I have is attending the Summer Enrichment Academy that Bellefontaine City Schools hosted and getting to participate in crime-solving scenarios, television production, and history lessons.

What about Bellefontaine City Schools helped prepare you for your post HS endeavors?

Bellefontaine City Schools helped prepare me for my post-HS endeavors by giving me a solid educational base which was created by many amazing educators who truly cared about students’ well-being both inside and outside the classroom. In college and beyond, I have found that students who attended public school, myself included, were exposed to a wider range of diversity in many aspects of students’ lives and this both benefitted and enriched our educational and social experiences.

Please feel free to include any other information you would like to share with the community of Bellefontaine:

Thank you to the entire community of Bellefontaine for giving me a great growing-up experience and helping prepare me for the world beyond Bellefontaine!
