Board meetings are held the second Monday of each month
at 6:30 PM in the Board of Education Office.



President:  Scott Abraham 
was appointed to the Board in January, 2016. His current term will end December 31, 2021.  Scott is a fourth-generation graduate of Bellefontaine City Schools, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy from Miami University.  He and his late father, Richard, owned a real estate company in Bellefontaine for 25 years.  Scott is a licensed broker with Bell Hankins Realty Group, LLC, and is a State Certified Appraiser with Scott A. Abraham DBA as Cardinal Appraisals. Scott has been active in the community as past president of the Logan County Board of Realtors, past chairperson of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Logan County Housing Corporation, past board member of the United Way, Logan County Land Trust, and Downtown Business Partnership. He is chairman of the Mary Rutan Health Association, a board member of Mary Rutan Hospital and Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Foundation. Scott and his wife, Julie, have a daughter and a son, both being graduates of the District. 

Vice President:  Brenda Sanford
began serving on the Board in January, 2000. Her current term ends December 31, 2023.  Brenda is a graduate of Bellefontaine City School District, and received her Bachelor’s from Miami University and Master’s from The Ohio State University.  She is the founder and director of “Light the Way Christian Counseling Center.”  Brenda is associate minister of First Christian Church, and sings in the chancel choir.  She is active in the community, and is a member of the Hi Point Toastmasters.  She has served the School District as part of the 1999 levy committee and as a member of OSBA.  Brenda has two children, both of whom graduated from the School District, and two of her four grandchildren attend Bellefontaine City Schools.


Board Member:  Mark Fissel
began serving on the Board in January, 2020. His current term ends December 31, 2023. Mark is a graduate of Bellefontaine City School District, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Management from Miami University, in Oxford. He started his career with Siemens Energy & Automation, where he and his wife lived and worked in Atlanta, GA and then abroad in Amberg, Germany. After spending time in the family retail flooring business, Mark set off and co-founded Beacon Hill Investment Advisory in 2008, becoming a licensed investment advisor and earning the distinction of Certified Financial Planner, CFP® and Accredited Investment Fiduciary, AIF®. He has been involved locally on several Board of Directors; namely the Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership, Hilliker YMCA, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, and Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). Mark has served as Treasurer of the City of Bellefontaine since January, 2014. Prior to that, he served as City Councilman-at-Large for three consecutive terms and Finance Committee Chairman. In the late 2000’s, Mark and his high-school friends, developed, fund-raised and constructed the area’s first Disc Golf Course located at Mary Rutan Park. Mark and his wife, Stephanie, have four children who are students in the District.

                     
Board Member:  Colin Yoder  
began serving on the Board in January 2020. His current term ends December 31, 2023. Colin is a graduate of Bellefontaine City School District and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Public Relations from the University of Toledo. Colin currently works in marketing communications at OhioHealth a faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare system in Columbus, Ohio, and previously worked in the office of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. He previously served as a deacon of the 1st United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine and served as co-chair of the 2019 Bellefontaine City School District operating levy committee. He received the Friend of Education award from the Bellefontaine Education Association in 2019 and is a past recipient of the Central Ohio Public Relations Society of America Prism Award. Colin and his wife, Carrie, have two children who are students in the District.
